Clinical Practice
Dr. Rotter has been in clinical practice for over 30 years, treating individual adults, late adolescents and couples. Patients are typically referred to Dr. Rotter because they are experiencing anxiety and/or depression, struggling with work or parenting challenges, and/or experiencing conflict in their marital relationship. Patients seek consultation in the face of difficult life transitions and stresses. Challenging life transitions include, but are not limited to adjusting to college, marriage, becoming a parent, tackling a new job or career change, adapting to an empty nest, coping with illness, and dealing with marital separation or divorce.
Dr. Rotter helps individuals and couples get right to work addressing their immediate concerns, better understanding their difficulties and finding strategies to begjn reducing stress, improving their relationships and leading more satisfying lives. As she encourages patients to tackle their challenges in therapy, Dr. Rotter employs an empathic, active, direct and honest approach. Dr. Rotter's therapeutic method allows adults or late adolescents to resolve conflicts and find greater satisfaction in their lives, couples to reinvigorate their marriages and parents to develop more satisfying relationships with children of all ages. Treatment for individuals of all ages provides relief from anxiety and or depression as patients develop new understanding of their experiences and become more adept at managing the stressors in their lives. In cases where couples plan to or have already separated or divorced, Dr. Rotter has extensive experience in teaching parents how to navigate this challenging transition as effective co-parents with minimal conflict in order to best protect their children.
